Fake profiles, catfishing and scammers are an unfortunate reality on dating platforms. To fight it, DirectAffinity has implemented a selfie verification process that allows you to confirm the authenticity of your profile by performing a live capture of your face. This process will be mandatory from Jun 1, 2026 with a grace period of 30 days for existing users.
Selfie verification is one way to unlock verification tier A. You can also unlock it with enough accepted public photos: 3 for members who are looking for generosity, 1 for members who are willing to be generous. Pending, manual-review and verified statuses let you browse the search page and other members' public profiles.
The process consists in a short live capture of your face while performing basic head movements: keep it straight, then turn it left and finally right.
How does it work?
- Allow camera access.
- Place your face within the analysis frame.
- Follow the on-screen prompts for the capture.

Capture handling
Captures are never displayed publicly. They are stored securely so that they can later be compared with regular profile photos and generate a trust score for the other members.
